All About Chimpanzees
Jane Goodall studied chimps in the wild. She learned a lot about them. Here are some of the discoveries she made.
Goodall saw a chimp eating a dead animal. This was proof that chimps eat meat.
Goodall saw the same chimp making and using a tool to find and eat termites.
A chimp named Figan “kidnapped” a chimp named Flint to get the other chimps to follow him to a new place.
Using Man‑made Objects
A chimp named Mike used some cans to create a noise. He scared other chimps away.
The sight of a waterfall inspired the chimps to dance with joy.
A “war” broke out between two groups of chimps. The war lasted for four years.
Figan became a strong leader because he had his brother Faben’s support.
After three‑year-old Mel’s mother died, he was “adopted” by a chimp called Spindle.
