Danger to Animals

Ocean plastic fills our oceans. It kills many animals each year. Nearly 700 species have been affected by it.

Sea turtles gulp down plastic bags. They think the plastic is a jellyfish. Microplastics, or tiny plastic pieces, harm animals, too. Birds can die after eating this plastic.

Siegler says we need to design more recyclable plastics. We also need to build better systems to get rid of trash.
