What are three things you never dive without?

Goodman wears a red bandana when she dives.

Goodman takes notes on a waterproof notepad.

I always, always have a camera with me. Sometimes, I carry two or three cameras. That way, I have a backup in case something goes wrong.

I also wear a red bandana. It’s in honor of Jacques Cousteau. He was a famous oceanographer. He always wore a red cap.

The last thing that I bring with me is an underwater notebook. We call them “wetnotes.” They are made of paper that can get wet without falling apart.

What’s the hardest part about being an explorer?

I think the hardest part of being an explorer is leaving home. I miss my family when I am away. When I come back from an adventure, it is fun to share stories with them. Sometimes, I bring back gifts.

What’s next for you?

I will study more coastlines. I would like to find prehistoric villages. Many were covered by water long ago. I want to know what they were like.
