Some scientists worry that feeding the whale sharks might be bad. Whale sharks like to travel long distances. If they can get food from the fishers, they may not travel.
Others worry that whale sharks might link people and boats with food. Many boats have propellers. The whale sharks can get hurt if they swim too close.
A tourist touches the fin of a whale shark. Tourists are not supposed to touch them.
Tourists have rules to follow when they dive. But, many break the rules. Can this hurt the whale sharks? No one knows.
